The Surrender

This is one of the series of poems for the Holy Week which deals with the human weaknesses and its absolute resolve which is to surrender to God.

Sweat rolling down from your forehead to your cheeks,

Your teeth were gnashing as you climb up the steep,

Your veins were swollen as the work forced your legs,

You’re wheezing, you’re panting, almost out of breath.

Your mind and your body was telling you to rest,

You didn’t want respite or even take a break,

As much as possible you’re avoiding a sleep,

You need to do it all, you have to accomplish.

You didn’t want to pause or even ask for help,

You have abilities, you believe in yourself,

For you know that you can, yes by your own strength,

You think you’ve got it all, you possessed all the flairs.

The goal you want to reach couldn’t be seen so far,

The efforts exerted were not even equal,

Not on its halfway point, cannot be grasp by hand,

It was still a dream, it was uphill to climb.

Tired, bruised and worn out, finally disheartened,

You couldn’t leap over, your strength was exhausted,

Who could help you stand, Somebody’s what you need,

To help you rise above and get back on your feet.

In distress you cried out, admitted in the end,

That in your own selfish way you’d never win the race,

You kneeled down and asked God to lend a helping hand,

With tears in your eyes, you’ve fully understand,

You can’t make it alone, you’re just a frail human.

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:28-30‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Christians around the world celebrate this week in remembrance  of the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. If you noticed, my blogs this week are focused on human weaknesses and the way to overcome these.  Most of the time, we want to do things our ways. We wanted to prove our worth, to take the challenges of life by our own wisdom, direction and strength. God gave us the freedom to choose. And because of pride, especially when it eats us up God allow things to enter our lives that nearly devastate us. He does it for our growth and teach us more about Him. We all know that trouble and trials are part of our earthly existence. Burdens, troubles, trials and difficulties are going to come our way! But we don’t have to carry the burden by ourselves, surrender it to God.
