I was thinking of what to post here to put my creativity in action. I’ve been MIA for few days because of this recurring headache but I thank God that while I was lying in bed and reading a devotional book, the thoughts of the things we can get from our reading habit came across my mind and from there I wrote this poem. Here it goes…
Mr. Mind wanders around searching to find Mister Wisdom,
He badly needed him but he couldn’t be seen around,
He searched the streets asked the people where he could be found,
Many shook heads for they themselves don’t know where Wisdom hides.
His quest for him had brought him to the largest city stores,
He also tried to find this friend if he’s in the giant malls,
From there he looked for him outside if he’s in the busy stalls,
He was not there, he was nowhere, Mr. Mind’s strength seemed to exhaust.
He saw someone whose name’s Knowledge, asked him for his friend Wisdom,
He then replied and said to him, “you didn’t have to search that far,
For its easy where to find him, because I stay with him around,
We’re together with Mister Reading, so be his friend too and that’s the start.”
“Reading is a friend you need, to have Wisdom and me around,
Reading between experiences, and in each line of life’s trials,
Reading good books, and people’s lives, from there you can understand,
What life it is you have to live, without regrets after this life.”
Mister Reading, Wisdom, Knowledge, these were the friends of Mister Mind,
Mister Knowledge gave him advice, for him to see and understand,
What God wants him to bear inside and to comprehend by heart,
So that his life be lived in full, spare him from the downfall’s path.

Reading is a good habit that we have to develop because it stimulates the mind and improve the functioning of the brain, but we have to choose what we read. Our choices on what information we feed our minds affect our attitude and mindset. If we choose good, rich, informative, motivational and inspirational books we will be strengthened emotionally, intellectually and spiritually. If we choose to read informations that conveys destructive messages we’ll see the negative effect and how it would change our perceptions. So we have to be careful on what we feed our brains. We can gain knowledge by reading, but we have to have wisdom so we can use what we read constructively. Wisdom is knowledge properly applied.
“When wisdom enters your heart, And knowledge is pleasant to your soul, Discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you,”
“Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom; I am understanding, I have strength. By me kings reign, And rulers decree justice. By me princes rule, and nobles, All the judges of the earth. I love those who love me, And those who seek me diligently will find me. Riches and honor are with me, Enduring riches and righteousness. My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold, And my revenue than choice silver.”
